A proven sales and business development executive, Sonya Giffin thrives in a fast-paced environment. Sonya manages StrategicPartner’s Charleston office, helping companies and individuals grow, expand and reach their true potential through proven sales force development and executive coaching strategies and practices.
Prior to joining StrategicPartner as vice president, Sonya made her mark in a variety of industries, including software, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and consulting, continuously surpassing business goals.
At The Upjohn Company, which later integrated with Pfizer, Inc., Sonya took her region from an average sales revenue performer to No. 2 within 18 months. At Bell Atlantic Mobile, which became Verizon Wireless, Sonya created and fulfilled the company’s first national senior account executive role, consistently ranking among the top sales representatives in the nation.
Sonya gained international sales experience in 2002 when she joined Ariel Research Corporation, the leading provider of expert solutions for global environmental, health and safety (EHS) management. At Ariel, she led and trained a sales team that increased sales results by 325 percent over a two-quarter period, while also managing a client and prospect base within Europe and North America. She built on this success within the industry when she served as senior sales consultant for Enviance, a software company that specializes in EHS.
For six years, Sonya operated Giffin Consulting Group, a training and consulting firm dedicated to delivering sales, strategy and leadership solutions to major corporate accounts throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Her clients included Verizon Wireless, Grey Advertising, NCR, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), SunCom, Colonial Life and Accident/Unum and Michelin.
With a personal mission of helping others accomplish their goals, Sonya has given her time and leadership to several non-profit and charitable causes. She was a founding director of the Hampton Branch YMCA in Virginia, establishing the organization from the ground up. As a volunteer, Sonya was the first female to be nominated to the Executive Board of the Columbia YMCA, holding the office of secretary. She also served as the founding chair of the First Annual Cattle Barons’ Ball for the American Cancer Society in Columbia. Sonya has also volunteered as a Big Sister in the Appalachia area and for the United Way.
Sonya holds a B.S. degree from Carson-Newman College.
